Virginia DMV: Seatbelts are ‘essential’ as department looks to keep Virginians safe over Thanksgiving holiday
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is asking residents traveling across the state over the Thanksgiving holiday to buckle up.
It’s an urgent message that continues to be broadcast as statistics find that around 15% of Virginians still do not use their seatbelt. The message from the state’s DMV comes on the heels of alarming news that fatal crashes stemming from motorists being unbuckled are up by close to 10% from last year. DMV officials are using this year’s Click-It-or-Ticket campaign that runs through this month to educate drivers on the impacts involved in a crash and what happens to the body when drivers are unbuckled in an accident.
