Norton City Schools employees to receive hazard pay due to pandemic
The city of Norton’s School Board has voted to award all system employees with an extra $400 in hazard pay as part of their regular paycheck.
The funds are derived from more than $136,000 in federal CARES Act funding supplied to localities due to the pandemic crisis. Those dollars will also be used for Google Classroom stipends for teachers valued at $100 along with new awnings at Norton Elementary.
A report from the superintendent’s office over the weekend said a student or staff member at J.I. Burton High School has tested positive for the coronavirus. The statement said that those who are involved in contact tracing procedures will be contacted by area health department officials.
