VADOC: One million PPE items distributed to institutions and offices

The Virginia Department of Corrections has reached a PPE distribution milestone as it has now surpassed the mark of delivering one million items to its institutions and offices.

VADOC Director Harold Clarke says it is an amazing effort by the state service to have accomplished this feat, considering state and nationwide concerns early on in the pandemic of availability of those items. VADOC launched an emergency operations center in March with a satellite location that managed the monitoring of PPE supplies, planning for inventory needs, and providing support to over 80 locations through the state.

Among PPE supplies distributed to VADOC facilities includes 17,000 disposable gowns, 294,000 surgical masks, and 700,000 nitrile and latex gloves.
