Long Time Kingsport School Board Member Passes Away Unexpectedly
A long time member of the Kingsport Board of Education has passed away unexpectedly. Kingsport School Board of Education member Carrie Upshaw died Sunday following a lengthy illness. Upshaw served three terms on the board, including multiple terms as Board President. Upshaw leaves a legacy of service to the Kingsport education community spanning decades and had a long history of service to the children, families and employees of Kingsport. Upshaw was also a member of the Tennessee School Boards Association and her leadership impacted multiple Kingsport Initiatives including the creation of DB EXCEL, the Science and Technology Center and the administrative Support Center.
