Cumberland Plateau, LENOWISCO Health Districts prioritizing COVID contact tracing to identify cases for those with “highest risk of spread”

Two Southwest Virginia Health Districts are now prioritizing COVID-19 case investigations and contact tracing because of substantial community transmission of the virus.

Officials with the Cumberland Plateau and LENOWISCO Health Districts will focus efforts primarily on case investigations and contact tracing to identify outbreaks and cases to those with highest risk of spreading the disease. Because of the health districts prioritizing who to contact trace, not all cases and close contacts will be contacted by the department of health.

VDH recommends those that have COVID symptoms should get tested early, self-isolate, and contact close contacts to quarantine.
