CEO: IPTV outage for BTES cable customers mostly restored
An outage to IPTV cable services for BTES customers has mostly been restored following a lengthy outage that began Monday night.
Bristol Tennessee Essential Services CEO Mike Browder said as of Thursday, less than 500 set top boxes were down.
The company originally said they were making changes in their system to a 100 gigabit backbone network upgrade for their entire network, not just the IPTV services and anticipated minimal downtime for customers through testing, but changes made on Monday afternoon responded differently than what was experienced during testing, causing outages to some 9,000 IPTV set top boxes that equated to close to 5,000 customers.
