Hampton VFD: Family of five safe following escape from home on fire Thursday
A family of five is safe after escaping their home in an early morning fire in Elizabethton.
The Hampton Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Department and Elizabethton Police responded to a house fire just before 4:00 a.m Thursday morning on Sugar Hollow Rd, where officers found the family to be trapped inside with flames blocking the front door. Police were able to safely bring the family to safety through a window of the home, and fire crews arrived shortly after to quickly put out the blaze with minimal damage to the dwelling.
Officials say the family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
