UPDATE: Greene County suspect who slipped out of JCMC back in custody
A Greene County, Tennessee suspect who slipped out of a Johnson City hospital early Friday is back in custody.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation first reported that Mark Hanselman, 55, was apprehended Friday afternoon. The sheriff’s department then noted the suspect was found after he was spotted on North Street then taken back to the medical center where he will remain under guard.
Hanselman’s exit from the hospital triggered a shelter-in-place order at the East Tennessee State University campus that was later cleared.
Hanselman was at the center for treatment for a wound he received in an officer-involved shooting in Greene County last week. He was seen by a homeowner trying to start a fire inside a garage when law enforcement was called. Hanselman was armed with a rifle when he was shot by a deputy.
He is facing several charges including aggravated robbery.
