UPDATE: Suspect in 2016 Washington County, Tennessee murder has extradition case continued
A man arrested last month in North Carolina and charged in a 2016 murder in Northeast Tennessee had his extradition hearing continued.
Court officials in Buncombe County said a judge appointed an attorney for Zefrin Leigh Parker and set his next court date for February 15.
Parker, 31, is accused of killing Keila Marie Gilbert-Taylor, 40, whose body was discovered by fishermen near the Watauga River on Herb Hodge Road on Christmas Eve 2016.
Prosecutors said DNA collected from the scene matched up with Parker during analysis conducted last month in Virginia. Parker was found in Asheville and taken into custody.
