Johnson City Man Arrested On Numerous Charges Including Felony Evading Arrest With Children In Vehicle
A 42 year old Johnson City man is jailed after being charged with three counts of felony evading arrest, child endangerment, light law violation and violation of financial responsibility. Robert C. Bennett of Spice Hollow Road in Johnson City was arrested after officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle which Bennett was driving. Bennett was accompanied by two juvenile children and a second adult. Bennett also had an active arrest warrant issued by the United States Marshals Service. When officers attempted to detain Bennett, he fled away at a high rate of speed with the juvenile occupants still inside the vehicle. Bennett continued to evade police at a high rate of speed and eventually fled on foot. He was apprehended the following day and is being held in the Washington County Tennessee Detention Center where he awaits a court hearing on January 11.
