ATF: 12-year-old Abingdon boy killed after unknowingly buying live grenade at North Carolina antique mall
More details have been released regarding the death of a 12-year-old Abingdon, Virginia boy at his home last month.
A report from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms says an antique shop in Shallotte, North Carolina unknowingly sold the buyers an MK2 style hand grenade that the vendor or the buyer believed to be functioning or hazardous.
The ATF identified the business as the Fancy Flea Market Antique Mall, and the agency believes more explosive grenades may have been sold to other customers.
The Abingdon Police Department confirmed earlier this week that the death of 12-year-old Asher Gabriel Hurley that occurred on Dec. 23 was still under investigation.
