NEW: Bristol, VA Sheriff to retire in 2021

Bristol, VA Sheriff David Maples is set to retire from his post sometime later this year.

Sheriff Maples told us he doesn’t know the exact date of when he will retire, but that it would be sometime in 2021. Maples has been in law enforcement for close to 40 years, including in his current position since winning election in 2017.

The Bristol, VA Sheriff’s Office oversees things such as the city jail, courts, and community outreach initiatives.
