VEA President recommends all Virginia schools move to virtual learning until staff in each district is vaccinated
Virginia Education Association President James Fedderman is calling on all school districts across the state to change their operation status to remote as the pandemic worsens again.
In a video published last week, Fedderman cited the recent statewide surge of cases, as well as his own experience with contracting COVID as reasoning behind his recommendation for districts to halt in-person classes. He also said this concerning vaccinations efforts among educators.
“The VEA will be monitoring the vaccination efforts to make sure that everyone of our school employees has an opportunity to be vaccinated,” said Fedderman.
As of Monday, nearly 40% of Virginia schools are completely online, including in Bristol City, Buchanan and Washington County.
