VSP: One dead in Interstate 81 crash in Abingdon

Few details were released following a fatal crash that the Virginia State Police reported early Monday.

The preliminary report said a tractor-trailer traveling northbound near Exit 19 struck a disabled vehicle just after 1:15 a.m. that was on the left side of the road and partially in the left lane.

One person was killed but their identity has not been released as of Monday afternoon. The crash remains under investigation.
