TDH: Correctional workers and inmates, families with medically fragile children among those moved into Phase 1 of state’s vaccine plan

Tennessee state health officials are adding additional groups more vulnerable to COVID-19 as those who are a higher priority to get vaccinated first.
The latest changes from the Tennessee Dept. of Health says among individuals moved into Phase 1 of the state’s vaccination plan includes households with medically fragile children, who will become eligible for vaccinations once the state moves into Phase 1c. It includes parents, caregivers, and other household residents.
Correctional officers and inmates have also been moved up in the state’s vaccination plan to Phase 1a1. TDH considers correctional workers and inmates very high risk due to frequent close contact in confined spaces.
