Northam ushers in new health codes for COVID compliance in Virginia
Virginia is reportedly the first in the US to enact permanent COVID-19 workplace safety and health standards following approval from Governor Ralph Northam.
The new rules will be enforced by the Department of Labor and Industry whose Safety and Health Codes Board approved the regulations last week.
The mandates will include appropriate personal protective equipment, sanitation, social distancing, infectious disease prep, response, and other guidelines.
The report said state health regulators have received 13,000 complaints concerning COVID-19 since the pandemic began, with 100 requiring a full investigation due to serious concerns, and 27 employers being cited.
