UPDATE: ETSU Professor identified as victim in Jan. 18 stabbing in Johnson City, dies of injuries
An ETSU professor who was allegedly stabbed by a Blountville woman on Jan. 18 has died from her injuries.
An update from Johnson City Police says Robin Leonard, 50, was taken to the hospital in critical condition following a reported struggle that resulted in a stabbing by suspect Annette Harvey, 51. The incident happened at a home on Hamilton Street, and during the investigation, police say multiple household items and furniture were in disarray.
Leonard succumbed to her injuries on Jan. 29 according to police, and ETSU’s Department of Psychology posted to social media of the passing of Leonard, who had been with the university as a faculty member following completion of her master’s degree in 2005.
Harvey was initially charged with attempted first-degree murder, but police are working with the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office to upgrade her charges to first-degree murder. Harvey is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, and remains jailed on a $100,000 bond in the Washington County Detention Center.
