Morgan Wallen receives swift backlash after racial slur video leaked on TMZ
East Tennessee native Morgan Wallen’s meteoric rise in country music has taken a drastic turn after video of him using a racial slur surfaced on TMZ.
The clip, reportedly shot by a resident in a Nashville neighborhood, showed a vocal Wallen speaking with a friend that included the racial epithet.

Wallen’s behavior was on display just five months ago in a video that showed the Hancock County native at a crowded party in Georgia during the pandemic—a move that got him kicked from a scheduled performance on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.”
He was also arrested for public intoxication in May in Nashville.
Wallen apologized for his words in a statement saying he was embarrassed and sorry while promising to do better. His latest recordings, “Dangerous: The Double Album,” has been atop the Billboard album chart for three weeks.
After learning of Morgan Wallen’s racial slur late last night, we are in the process of removing his appearances from all our platforms. We do not tolerate or condone words and actions that are in direct opposition to our core values that celebrate diversity, equity & inclusion.
