Indictment: Two USP Lee inmates attacked prisoner with shanks while three others blocked access to cell
A federal grand jury in Abingdon has indicted five US Penitentiary inmates held in Lee County for conspiring to kill a fellow prisoner.
The report from the US Attorney’s Office said the victim was attacked in January of last year with metal shanks by Moris Flores, 32, and, Angel Guevara, 39, inside a cell while Carlos Almonte, 30, Julie Chavez, 35, and, German Hernandez, 33, stood outside and held the door shut while others tried to intervene.
The victim was treated for multiple stab and puncture wounds.
