Sullivan Co. Sheriff’s Office identifies passenger killed in Monday morning wreck in Bluff City
A Bluff City man has been identified as the victim in a fatal single-car wreck Monday morning in Sullivan County.
The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office says Edgar Jennings, 47, was ejected from a Chevy Blazer when the SUV, which was pulling a boat on a trailer, veered off the road and struck a guardrail, causing the boat to come off the trailer, and the vehicle to flip upside down and land in a ditch.
The crash, that happened around 5:30 a.m on Whitehead Rd., also involved driver Cody Hammonds, 24, who suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office fatal incident reconstruction team investigation has revealed Jennings was likely not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The investigation into the incident is continuing.
