UPDATE: Tax-exempt PPE bill drafted by Sen. Pillion heading to Gov. Northam’s desk
Legislation drafted by a Virginia State senator which seeks to grant temporary tax relief on sales of PPE is now heading to the Governor’s desk.
Sen. Todd Pillion, who represents portions of Southwest Virginia, announced the House of Delegates approved his bill by unanimous consent on Monday. The bipartisan measure is working to grant tax exemption for businesses with COVID-19 safety protocols that meet state standards and those struggling financially due to the pandemic by permitting them to purchase PPE items like disinfecting products, face coverings, and gloves.
If signed by Gov. Northam, the bill would allow tax free purchase of these safety items until Northam’s executive order expires.
