County Mayors Lift Face Mask Requirements
After careful consideration, the Mayors of Carter, Unicoi, and Washington Counties are lifting current face covering requirements as of Friday, February 19 at eleven 59 p,m. That was a decision that did not come lightly from the Mayors. Washington County Mayor Joe Grandy says vaccinations are in full swing, community spread appears to be slowing down and the mayors agree the time has come to shift from a face mask requirement to a request. Businesses are requested to require face coverings be worn in compliance with the Tennessee Pledge, and the lack of an order by any of the County Mayors does not impact any safety measures currently in place in any of the County’s school systems, colleges or universities
