Bill prohibiting sale, import of products tested on animals heading to Gov. Northam’s desk

Manufactured cosmetic products that use animal testing could soon be prohibited from being sold and imported into Virginia.

HB2250, introduced by Delegate Kaye Kory, has been advanced by both House and Senate chambers to Gov. Ralph Northam’s desk after the Senate narrowly passed the measure in a vote last week.

Cosmetic products that uses animal testing would become illegal to import or sale in the state starting July 1, 2022, while Virginia companies that manufacture products would also be prohibited from testing those products by animals, which would go into effect at the first of the year.
