Police: Bristol man allegedly kicked, punched puppy and shoved woman into wall
A Bristol, TN man is facing additional charges after police say he kicked and punched a five-month old puppy and pushed a woman into a wall.
Officers say they were called to a domestic incident on Feb. 16 involving suspect John Dudley Jr., 30, where a victim told police he dragged a Pyrenees puppy from its crate after it used the bathroom in it, then it bit Dudley after he put the puppy in a bathtub, which resulted in Dudley reportedly kicking and punching it. The woman further alleged that she tried to intervene and was shoved into a wall.
The victim left the residence and called police, resulting in them arresting Dudley on charges of domestic assault and cruelty to animals. Officers say the dog was taken to a vet to be examined and found to to have injuries in its jaw and front paw, in addition to having teeth which were lost or damaged during the incident.
The following day, Dudley reportedly returned to the residence and got into an argument with the woman, which the victim told officers in a prior instance, she was held at knifepoint by Dudley, who allegedly threatened to kill her, everyone she loved, then himself if she ever left him.
Dudley is currently on supervised probation and, as a condition of his sentence, a judge ordered him to stay away from the victim and have no contact with her. The Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office also stated that a condition of his bond release from the prior day’s arrest was that he have no contact with the victim.
As a result of this information, the District Attorney’s office advised that Dudley be further charged with aggravated assault and two counts of violation of a protection order. He is scheduled to appear in the Sullivan County General District Court in Bristol on March 10 at 9:30 a.m.
