USDA: Prescribed burns scheduled for March 5-9 in Cocke County portion of Cherokee National Forest
Prescribed burns are scheduled to begin in the Unaka District of the Cherokee National Forest on Friday.
A notice from the USDA Forest Service says the areas the prescribed burns are set to take place include areas of Cocke County like Allen Branch Pond, Wagon Train, Yellow Springs, Meadow Creek Towers, Weaver Bend Fields, and Gold Mine Gap.
The scheduled burns will take place March 5-9, and forest officials say smoke may be visible in surrounding areas.
