Bid for high school football championship weekend awarded to Chattanooga by TSSAA
For the third time in 21 years, the home for Tennessee’s year-end championship games is moving.
The TSSAA Board of Control has voted to award the city of Chattanooga with high school football championship weekend beginning this fall and again in 2022 with games played in early December at Finley Stadium.
The city of Cookeville, where the games have been played at Tennessee Tech’s Tucker Stadium since 2009, submitted another bid for the games that brings millions of dollars in revenue from visitors. The board voted 11-1 in favor of the Chattanooga proposal.
Murfreesboro hosted the finals beginning in 2000.
