McAuliffe not participating in Tuesday night’s Democratic gubernatorial debate streamed online
Former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe has declined an invitation to a Democratic debate that will be streamed online tonight beginning at 7 p.m.
The virtual event dubbed “The People’s Debate” will feature current Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax, Delegate Lee Carter, Senator Jennifer McClellan, and former delegate Jennifer Carroll Foy.
McAuliffe is currently miles ahead among the gubernatorial candidates in terms of fundraising with more than $5 million in his coffers, according to the Virginia Public Access Project.
Four more debates will be televised and all five candidates have committed to participate in those events. The Democratic primary is scheduled for June 8th.
