Police: Body, Dog found inside burned Marion, VA home
Authorities are investigating a Thursday morning fire in Marion, Virginia after a body and dog were discovered inside a home.
Marion Police and fire crews were called to a house on North Chestnut Street around 2:45 a.m, while they also received a call around the same time about shots fired in the area. Crews found the home fully engulfed after arriving and began to battle the blaze. Officials say they have recovered a person and dog from the burned residence.
Virginia State Police are assisting in the investigation as authorities continue to work to determine the cause of death and fire.
