Roan Mountain man killed in Wednesday night crash in Carter County, driver facing charges
A Roan Mountain man is facing charges following a crash Wednesday night that left one dead in Carter County.
A crash report from Tennessee Highway Patrol says Jerry Stout, 67, of Roan Mountain, TN, was traveling north along Highway 19E just before 9 p.m in a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck, when his vehicle crossed the center left turning lane into the south lane and struck a southbound 2001 Ford Focus in the driver’s side.
The driver of the Ford, Kevin Whitehead, 51, also of Roan Mountain, was killed in the wreck. Stout was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication. The crash remains under investigation.
