UPDATE: Mother high on meth while daughter drowned in New River receives jail time
The mother of a 3-year-old who drowned in the New River while she and her boyfriend were high on meth was sentenced to two years in jail in Circuit Court.
Kimberly Dawn Moore, 47, had already been convicted of child neglect for the 2019 incident located northeast of New River Trail State Park in Wythe County in the Barron Springs community.
A search party made up of 100 people searched for Josie Burleson until the tragic discovery of the child’s body floating in the river hours after her disappearance.
