Cherokee National Forest: 2021 recreation site operating dates now available
The Cherokee National Forest has announced the 2021 operating schedules for their recreation sites.
Officials say most day use recreation sites in the 650,000 acre forest remain open throughout the year including trails, rivers, campgrounds without developed water systems, and most boat area launches.
“We know people are looking forward to getting out and enjoying the outdoors, and we have worked hard to prepare for this upcoming season,” said Jessie English, recreation, wilderness, and trails program manager. “Remember to plan ahead, be considerate of other visitors, remove trash, and to properly dispose of waste.”
Highly developed campgrounds are routinely closed and some campsites in these campgrounds are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, with some of these sites requiring a reservation.
Reservations to those sites can be made by clicking here or by phone at 1-877-444-6777 for assistance. We have a link to the operating schedule of the recreation sites available here.
