Pedestrian struck and killed on Interstate 81 in Wythe County
A pedestrian was struck and killed Sunday night on Interstate 81 just before 11 pm according to the Virginia State Police.
Justin J. Briggs, 41, of Wytheville, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck located near mile marker 71 on 81 northbound. Briggs reportedly walked across the travel lane and into the path of a pickup truck driven by a man from Newport News who was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
