Report: Two men sold firearms at Southwest Virginia flea market without a federal license
A federal investigation into weapon sales at a Southwest Virginia flea market has netted a pair of guilty pleas from two residents.
James Michael Boggs, 66, of Pound, and Tommy Roger Dotson, 65, of Clintwood, admitted to selling firearms without a license after the ATF began surveillance of the men’s operations and witnessed both of them vending guns to customers at the Indian Mountain Trade Center in Wise.
Prosecutors said both men sold guns to undercover officers on three occasions with Boggs selling the agents nine handguns, a shotgun, and an AR-15 style rifle.
Dotson agreed to surrender 59 guns as part of his guilty plea along with forfeiting more than $13,000 in cash. Boggs paid a $5,000 fine.
Both men will be sentenced at a later date.
