UPDATE: Man wanted for questioning in homicide investigation in Marion, VA arrested on Saturday in NC

A man wanted for questioning in a fatal fire last week in Marion, VA is in custody.

Over the weekend, Marion Police reported that Jason Whittaker was arrested on unrelated charges in Surry County, NC. Local, state, and federal authorities are continuing to work on the now upgraded homicide investigation. Police discovered a woman and dog in a burned home last Thursday on North Chestnut St. and named Whittaker a person of interest in the case.

Additional information about his arrest is expected to be released.
