Virginia Employment Commission to soon require job searches again for residents to receive unemployment benefits
Virginia residents receiving unemployment assistance will soon be required to apply for jobs again each week they receive benefits.
An update from the Virginia Employment Commission says they will soon begin notifying individuals in May of the policy changes, which was temporarily suspended because of the pandemic.
VEC reports that once these changes take effect, any unemployed resident will be required to apply for two jobs each week to receive their unemployment benefits as well as submit paperwork to the state detailing their job searches.
