Virginia Governor Praises Lawmakers For Special Session Efforts
Now that the Virginia lawmakers have concluded their special session of the 2021 General Assembly, Governor Ralph Northam says the session will be regarded as one of the most consequential policy reforming periods in modern Virginia history. Northam says a budget has been approved that will help Virginians get through the pandemic and will lay a foundation for a strong economic recovery. Northam also praised Virginia as the first state in the South to legalize the simple possession of marijuana and did so three years early. Other notable accomplishments include ending the inhumane practice of capital punishment as well as the Voting Rights Act of Virginia.
