Federal inmate receives additional prison time for assaulting officer at Southwest Virginia Regional Jail
A US Penitentiary inmate jailed in Lee County has had additional time added to his sentence following a fight with a corrections officer.
A report from US District Court in Abingdon says Daniel Lee Wade, 26, of Greenville, North Carolina was sentenced to 6 months in prison to run consecutively with his previous sentence of 4 years for crafting and possessing two homemade weapons in the Jonesville facility.
Prosecutors said Wade assaulted an officer at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon three days after he received the sentence for the weapons charge. The officer was not injured.
