Officials: USP Lee inmate found dead Saturday morning
Jail officials are investigating after an inmate was found unresponsive and later died over the weekend at the US Penitentiary in Lee County, Virginia.
Inmate Corey Daniel Whaley was found unresponsive Saturday morning around 10:15, and life-saving measures were unsuccessful in reviving Whaley, who was later declared deceased by hospital personnel.
Whaley was serving a 120-month sentence for Hobbs Act Robbery and for the use, carry, and brandishing of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
