UPDATE: Austin earns full-time chief of police appointment from Bristol Tennessee leaders
Matt Austin, installed as Bristol Tennessee interim chief of police last month, has earned the full-time position, according to a report issued by City Manager Bill Sorah.
Austin has served in the department since 1991 and advanced through the ranks of the agency including a promotion to captain in 2013.
Austin said in a prepared statement that he is humbled and excited for the opportunity that became available following the retirement of former chief Blaine Wade.
