Carter County Schools closed on August 23; cites bus driver, substitute teacher shortage
All Carter County Schools were closed on Monday, August 23rd, due to a shortage of bus drivers and substitute teachers. This came days after an announcement stating that certain bus routes in the county would be suspended until further notice due to this shortage. As a result of TN Governor Bill Lee’s executive order on mask mandates, face covering requirements for students can be opted out of by parents. According to the TN Department of Health, Carter County has seen 214 new positive COVID-19 cases over the last 14 days. The county says school will be back in session on Tuesday.
