Local State Park Wins Innovation Award In Tennessee
One of our region’s State Parks has been recognized as the Tennessee’s top park for innovation. Warriors Path State Park in Kingsport received the award for its innovative approach for establishing a new campground utilizing recycled , reused, or repurposed materials. Park officials built the Cedar Ridge Hammock Campground to replace the park’s primitive campground. The campground can accommodate 72 hammocks, built with Cedar trees lost in a winter storm. The entire space cost the park only the installation of a water hydrant. Volunteers and park staff all contributed to project in the form of support, labor and ideas.
