Sullivan County Board Of Education Approves Mask Mandate, With Opt Out Option
The region’s largest county school system is adopting a student-staff, mask mandate with an option to opt out of the requirement. Sullivan County Board of Education members gathered Thursday evening to discuss what they call operational procedures to ensure the health and safety of students and staff. What that means is by a five to two vote students across the county will have to wear a face mask while indoors at school. But board members tweaked the measure by adding an opt out form for students and staff. Superintendent Evelyn Rafalowski also now has the ability to temporarily close an individual grade level, bus route, or a school is a surge occurs.
