Kingsport Public Works conducting snow plow vehicle inspections this week; 4,300 tons of salt on stand-by for winter

Kingsport Public Works’ Streets and Sanitation Division is conducting its annual snow plow inspections this week, ahead of the winter season. Kingsport officials say the city has 40 vehicles equipped with snowplows and salt spreaders. Three additional trucks are supplied with pre-treatment anti-icing brine to coat roads prior to a snow event. Currently, Kingsport has 4,300 tons of salt on hand for this winter, and contracts are in place to purchase more if needed. Due to current health guidelines, this year’s inspection event is not open to the public. Inspections are expected to be complete by the end of the week.
