Weekend COVID Deaths Push SWVA Totals To 200 Since September 1
Three new deaths from COVID-19 in Dickenson, Tazewell, and Wise Counties over the weekend pushed the total number of deaths in Southwest Virginia to 200 since September first. According to the Virginia Department of Health, that figure is more than two times higher than the state average across the Commonwealth. Smyth and Washington Counties are also reporting the two highest rates in Virginia for hospitalizations. Smyth Counties rate is five times the state average.
