Gray Fossil Site, ETSU Putting Puzzle Pieces Together…Studying Newest Find
Talking about a real Heirloom seed. Officials with the Gray Fossil Site and ETSU continue studying an estimated 500 million year old fossilized seed, related to the 1919 designation of the Passionflower as Tennessee’s official State Wildflower. The seed recently discovered at the Gray site now becomes part of a growing puzzle of fossilized remains found including plants, pollen, a red panda and now a Passionflower seed.
