Congressman says FEMA “out of touch” with Hurley victims as agency denies appeal for flood help
Another setback for the town of Hurley as US Congressman Morgan Griffith announces federal disaster relief agency FEMA has denied an appeal of its original rejection of individual assistance for flood victims made last year.
Griffith said FEMA’s decision indicated that the agency was out of touch with the suffering experienced in the Buchanan County area in August.
Griffith along with US Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine had asked FEMA to reconsider funding to help a community that saw one of its own killed and millions of dollars in damages rack up with record rain and flooding.
