Asbestos Found In Some Debris Left From Monday’s Steam Line Incident At Eastman Chemical
In an overnight update, Eastman Corporate Communications officials are telling our newsroom cleanup efforts from yesterday’s steam line failure that injured five employees includes debris removal from surrounding homes near the Eastman Campus. Tests conducted in the area shows at least some of that debris found contains asbestos. An Eastman response team is now tasked with debris removal in the impacted neighborhood. Eastman is advising anyone near the plant who experienced any debris on their property to contact Eastman’s Community Care Line which is now posted on our website. The investigation into the cause of the mishap could take up to two weeks to complete.
