Report: Dislike of jail food led to Surgoinsville man police pursuit
A Surgoinsville man is in jail after Hawkins County Police say he was speeding and evaded arrest. 20-year-old Aaron Roberts is behind bars after police paced him traveling down Highway 11W going around 110 mph. A traffic stop was attempted, but Roberts failed to stop and continued into Church Hill city limits.
The pursuit continued until Roberts began driving on the wrong side of the road, which led to police terminating the chase. The car was then observed turning its headlights off and pulling into an apartment complex. Officers made contact with Aaron Roberts, who told them he didn’t stop because he had a revoked license and did not like the food in jail, as he lost twenty pounds last time he was incarcerated. Roberts was arrested and taken to the Hawkins County Jail.
