Johnson City’s Providence Academy approved for TSSAA membership

A faith-based education campus in Johnson City will be allowed to compete for regional and state awards in athletics beginning this fall.

The TSSAA Board of Control approved a petition from Providence Academy to join the state athletic governing body and have been placed in Division II Class A.

Providence informed the association that they sought approval to be included in state competitions in nine sports including boys basketball, golf, girls’ volleyball, and baseball.
