Transportation Grant To Help Kingsport Fund New Road For Economic Development
Governor Bill Lee’s proposed 626 and a half million dollar transportation budget includes a new two point three mile long, two lane road that would benefit Eastman Chemical Company and provide 140 thousand dollars to the city’s property tax revenue. The money would be coupled with a 29 million dollar state grant to construct two twelve foot lanes and eighteen inch shoulders with curbs on 21 acres of land donated by Eastman Chemical Company. The new road would run from an existing section of Riverport Road to the Meadowview Interstate 26 area behind the Aquatic Center.
